The Marcliff Singers
Choral director and founder of the Marcliff Singers, Helen Earey is a qualified Bachelor of Music, pianist and trained teacher. She is a member of the Halle Choir, a freelance organist and accompanist. Helen studied at City University London in 2001 and after graduating with BMus(Hons) in Music, she did a PGCE at Roehampton, London. She has taught music and piano in schools and worked for Enfield Music Service and now teaches music to children with learning difficulties at Lancasterian School, Manchester. Helen lives in Stockport where the choir is based.
'Marcliff Singers started from a long-standing ambition I have had to start my own choir,' says Helen. 'The choir will attract individuals from all walks of life who wish to become confident singers. Styles and repertoires to be sung will include classical, contemporary, jazz, blues and A Capella.'
Marcliff Singers in concert
The Marcliff Singers' first performance took place at Coniston Hall, Manchester on Sunday 11 December, 2011. It included piano and violin pieces played by students of the Royal Northern College of Music, songs and carols from the Marcliff Singers, accompanied by Sakurako Mishiro and conducted by Helen.
